OUR CLIENT:

MedStar Health is a not-for-profit healthcare organization operating ten hospitals and more than 100 other facilities in the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area with two nationally-ranked flagship hospitals in Washington, DC.

THE CHALLENGE:

Maintain top-of-mind, first choice status among regional consumers seeking care.

OUR APPROACH:

During our longstanding partnership with MedStar Health, we’ve implemented a robust portfolio of marketing & communications initiatives. From physician marketing to far-reaching direct mail (consumer health education newsletters) and digital marketing content, our work provides consumers with engaging patient stories demonstrating the deep expertise and compassionate approach of flagship MedStar facilities including MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Montgomery Medical Center.

One of MedStar’s challenges was making complex information about their services more accessible and social media friendly, appealing to a growing community of patients online. This digital animation, highlights MedStar Georgetown’s new and highly advanced proton therapy treatment with simplicity.

THE RESULTS:

In short order, the post gathered a total of 61,000 views, 157 likes, 28 shares and 5 comments. We are promoting the hospital’s reputation as a leader in advanced cancer treatment.

This animation is just one small example of our larger work with MedStar. Our print newsletters for MedStar Georgetown and MedStar Montgomery reach some 800,000+ consumers quarterly via direct mail. Our content – consistently focused on moving patient stories, clinician expertise, revolutionary treatment, and advanced facilities – strengthens community connection to the hospitals and drives new appointments. Perhaps most importantly, based on follow-up research, we’ve seen 16-18% of our newsletter readers taking actions to improve their health. That kind of positive behavior change is uncommon and worthy of celebration.
